I am appalled by the way in which my partner, who has Alzheimer's disease, was treated by this shop. He took in a watch (which he had bought there some while back) because the clasp had got loose. The owner of the shop did not quote a price for fixing it, and when my partner went back he demanded £50, with no explanation as to why it was so expensive. All he had done was replace a clasp. There was no itemised bill - just £50 written in pencil on a grubby envelope. In his smarter days, my partner would have refused to pay and pursued the issue with the police and the Trading Standards office, but he was intimidated by the man, confused by the situation, and afraid of not getting his watch back at all, so he paid up.
