St Thomas More RC College is a Roman Catholic co-educational voluntary aided comprehensive college for students between the ages of 11 and 16. The school was opened in 1964 and gained Specialist College status in Mathematics and Computing in 2004. Following our designation as a high performing specialist college we were awarded a second specialism in Applied Learning in 2008 and awarded Leading Edge status in 2010.
Specialist status has given us increased resources and ICT facilities for teaching and learning throughout the college to help our pupils to continue to achieve the highest standards. It has also facilitated a rich and broad curriculum provision and pathways for pupils as they progress to further education.
Our specialisms enable us to be a resource for our local community and facilitate out of college learning opportunities for pupils and families.

Aims :

There is a friendly and experienced teaching staff in the college that work together to support our Christian Ethos and ensure that each student is enabled to achieve their full potential. Our last OFSTED Report underlined the consistency of good teaching as a strength of the college and stated that pupils had good attitudes to learning and work and mature attitudes to education. We are listed in the Good Schools Guide . The curriculum management structure in the school supports National Curriculum subject areas, Religious Education and Whole School Development. All staff are supported by a Senior Management team. There is a strong team of support staff including teaching support staff, secretaries, librarian/reprographics assistant, ICT, ADT and Science technicians, caretakers, lunchtime assistants, cleaners and kitchen staff. The collective strength of our staff ensures that the ethos and values in our Mission Statement provide all our pupils with high quality teaching and learning within a supportive environment.
