Zizzi is a chain of Italian restraunts that cook their pizzas in a wood fired oven. The last time I was in London I met some friends there for a meal midweek and was surprised at how busy this place was. In fact we had to wait a while for a table as their were about 8 of us!The menu is typical traditional Italian with lots of pizza, pasta and salad dishes to choose from. The prices are reasonable and the portions pretty large. In fact my calzone pizza was huge!Service wasn't too bad considering how busy the place was and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a good place to go to if you want a lively atmosphere and a bite to eat.

Cutting off private parts
Ok I haven't been to Zizzi restaurants in the past but I do remember feeling shocked when I first saw the word "Zizzi" for a restaurant. For those of you that are not Francophone, "Zizzi" in French slang means "penis". Thus when I read on the BBC's website that a man cut off his penis at the Zizzi on the Strand I couldn't help myself to cringe and at the same time laugh out loud!This is what was reported on the BBC: "A spokeswoman for Zizzi said the man was not thought to have any connection with the restaurant.She said: "At around 9pm on Sunday, a man walked into the Zizzi restaurant on The Strand, down the stairs to the basement restaurant area and tried to enter a kitchen."Members of staff stopped him, at which he ran into a second kitchen area."The man then picked up a kitchen knife and slashed himself across the wrist and groin areas before running back into the restaurant, where he continued to stab himself."This happened in a matter of seconds and was obviously extremely frightening and distressing for the many customers and staff in the restaurant at the time."She added: "Apart from the man, we understand that no-one else suffered any physical injuries." "
