Beautifully furnished, friendly staff, comfy beds, good food - just a tad pricey

Plush thistle hotel in a beautiful old fashioned building. You walk into a high ceiling'd hallway with chandalleris and into what would have been an old drawing room on the left (and it is still done out as such with old fashioned heavily upholstered furniture) to the reception desk. The service is professional as you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. The room we stayed in had a view of a brick wall out of the window but aside from that it was plush with dressing table and chair and a posh bathroom. The hotel bar is very posh and has a long granite bar and a good selection of decent wines and it is open very late. Breakfast is quite something here and includes every kind of englsih breakfast item cooked to perfection. Not a cheap hotel but quality in a great location.
