If you are a fan of the Japanese food, you should visit this restaurant. I can't resist on the tasty seafood. I'm trying to prepare different dishes on my own, but still the taste is not the same. I recommend you to order the delicious sushi rolls. You won't regret.

Best Sushi in London... so far.

Situated in Ealing Common, it is a bit of a trek. I hardly go out west at all, so I was happy to note that it is opposite the tube station, giving you no chance to get lost (much). I'd heard the decor isn't much to look at, but seeing as my favourite sushi place, Ten Ten Tei in Brewer Street isn't either, this could only be a good thing. From the outside, Sushi Hiro looks a bit lifeless. Frosted white glass makes it look closed. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted with the smell of very fresh fish - a bit like the seaside, and not at all fishy. Tables line the walls, simply decorated with chopsticks, a napkin and soy with saucers, as well as some stools at a sushi bar.The menu is a tick box affair, with a plastic laminate guide with pictures. It's a really short menu with no hot dishes except miso soup - sushi and sashimi was the order of the day. I tend to suffer from great indecision, so it was good to see the deluxe set had a nice long list of fish it included; belly tuna, surf cram (sic!), salmon, sweet shrimp, scallop, mackerel, roe, eel, and... er... I forget the rest. We also ordered some pickled gourd and pickled radish maki to accompany, with a beer to wash it all down with. When the sushi arrived, I was relieved to see it didn't resemble the rather depressing platter offered at Tomoe, which was also called the Deluxe Nigiri Set and at the same price. Visually, it was stunning. The fish was of excellent quality and the rice was freshly cooked and still a little warm. The fish to rice ratio was perfect, and a great selection of fish - not just the standard salmon and tuna. Easily the best sushi I've had in London. The pickled vegetable maki was also good, although we did comment that it could have been a little more pickled. We are pickle fiends though and knowing Japanese pickles are usually a lot sweeter, I think it's pretty inconsequential.I definitely want to go back and go for a big blow-out as I was watching the budget this day. It was great value; the excellent platter, the maki and a beer each for came to £65 for the three of us, with some complimentary edamame and green tea thrown in. The rather long trek out west was worth it. Watch out for the funny opening hours though.

There's a narrow shopfront directly across the street from the Ealing Common tube station that always looks like it's closed, thanks to it's whited-out windows. Look carefully, and you'll see a little display of plastic sushi in the front (and a sign that says Cash Only). Behind that door is an adorable sushi restaurant that serves some of the best sushi in London. We were looking for a light lunch one weekend when I suggested Sushi Hiro. It has been on my radar for a while and this was finally a chance to go.We ordered two sushi platters - the first and third sets on the menu (were they A & C?). Together, they came to about £17, very reasonable for sushi of such high quality. The fish was extremely fresh and watching the sushi being made was highly entertaining and made the long wait feel much shorter. Mmmm… I love all the silky smooth fish: tuna, mackerel, salmon… I'm not fond of the slimy squid though. If I had to complain about one thing, it would be about how they spread the wasabi under the fish - it wasn't spread evenly and so sometimes you'd get a big lump that would cause your eyes to water a lot! Green tea was brought for us to drink and soon after our platters were brought to us, bowls of miso soup were also presented.I'm already keen to go back to try their maki sushi. There's one with huge lumps of crab meat and another with gorgeous grilled eel (they dab the sauce on so gently with a brush) and there's even futomaki, the giant sushi roll filled with many goodies. They are closed in between lunch and dinner and last orders for lunch are taken at about 2pm. Reservations are also taken and are recommended.Photos here: http://tamarindandthyme.wordpress.com/2008/02/22/sushi-hiro/

One of my Favourite place for sushi. It's just 10 min drive away from me..remember to book though cause it's busy every night.Don't aspect other japanese food here cause they only do sushi.the sashimi is extremely fresh and their sushi is just top quality. The miso soup is a must try cause they actually add shellfish and loads of tofu and seaweed into it.There are quite a few japanese store nearby too.
