A Brief History About Us
Scotch meats traditional family butchers shop was opened in 1976 by Bert and Bob Fitzpatrick .
Their main aim was to serve quality fresh meat at cost conscious prices. This era was offering a new way of shopping by bulk buying , and value freezer packs were very popular to fill the new fashionable consumer item, 'the chest freezer'.
In 1987 the shop passed to the next generation, and under Graham's instruction the shop was re-fitted in a more contemporary style but still retaining the old fashioned principles of customer service , quality meat and value prices. The shop prides itself on only selling Prime Scotch Beef from Mathers Inverurie in Scotland, known as Mathers Gold, it is traditionally dry hung for 14-21 days for a wonderful flavour.
The fresh Lamb is sourced locally from farms in Kent and East Sussex, and our pork is Gloucester Old Spot from a small group of farms in Essex.
To date we are proud to include our son Ashley, as the next generation butcher. The skills required take many years to learn and we are looking to recruit apprentices to carry on the traditional sausage and pie making.
All our staff are happy to help you and offer advice , to give an individual service not offered by the supermarkets.
