The Nursery Montessori is a small, friendly Nursery located in North London, registered by OFSTED to care for children between the ages of 3 months to 5 years.
The Nursery is open 50 weeks of the year (we are closed two weeks at Christmas), and offer morning, afternoon and full day sessions, Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm.
We are passionate about delivering a warm, engaging and educational setting for our children, placing the principals of the Montessori method at the heart of everything we do. With many of our children starting at the Muswell Hill Nursery (for ages 3 months to 3 years) and progressing onto the Highgate site (ages 2 years to 5 years), The Nursery Montessori provides a nurturing and stimulating environment to progress each child's individual development, taking them from infancy right through to preparing them for their first days at school.
About Us
Children are free to enter Nursery at any age from three months (Muswell Hill site) and 2 years (Highgate site).
Our Nursery is open to all members of the community. We aim to provide a fair system which allows all children an equal opportunity of entrance to the Nursery.
The Nursery was first opened in 1992 by current owner, Mrs Sweby, with just five children aged 2-5 years, on the premises of the current Muswell Hill site. As a working mother herself, Mrs Sweby understood the difficulties of finding quality childcare that fitted in with her long working hours. It was this need that gave Mrs Sweby the inspiration to open the Nursery, and provide a high standard of childcare that supported both the child and the working parent.
It is this principal which remains at the heart of the Nursery today.
With Mrs Sweby's passion for education and high quality childcare, the Nursery quickly grew to cater for 25+ children.
In 2002, Mrs Sweby opened the Highgate branch, moving the 2-5 years olds to the current site at Woodside Avenue, and creating the current dedicated baby unit for children aged 3 months – 3 years at the Muswell Hill site.
Combining childcare with education
The Nursery Montessori offers a unique combination of education and childcare, with the principals of the Montessori method followed throughout both Nurseries, and the practical teaching methods employed at the Highgate Nursery, which work alongside the Govenment's Early Years Foundation Stage.
Through day-to-day care and structured classes and teaching, The Nursery provides an inclusive, stimulating and engaging environment, where the child can continually learn and develop, and build the independence, skills and confidence that will prepare them for starting school.
Montessori Method
