My husband and I have eaten here about 4 times and have loved our meal on each occasion – but on the last occasion that we dined there we naively arrived as a party of 6 at 7:30pm on the Saturday night before Christmas! Our stupidity was only made apparent when we were asked if we had a reservation which we did not – but with big warms smiles and a quick rearranging of tables we were accommodated and were able to introduce our visiting relatives to the wonderful La Luna!My Husband and I love it there and we are in fact eating there tonight! Try it for yourself!

La Luna is our substitute for a Pizzeria Castello that closed in 2007 although it doesn't live up the same quality. We went there twice and were satisfied with it. On both times one of us had a pizza, and the other a pasta dish with wine one time and beer the other time. The pizzas are a bit rustic with large toppings sloppily thrown on it but it is oven baked and thin-crust. The pasta dishes were hot and nice. We also had tiramisu which was a bit too dry without any liquor in it. The restaurant plays Italian channels on its large screen TV, one day it was Italian football and the other day we saw San Remo music festival. The owners are a couple of brothers from the south of Italy, although a young english waitress spoiled the atmosphere as she didn't know anything about Italian cuisine.

I'm not sure who I am writing this review for ... if you live around here, you probably know about La Luna already (what am I saying? you probably have a favourite table), and if you don't ... well, what review would be strong enough to get you down the Walworth Road? (I like it round here, but I know it has an image problem.) But it's worth saying - La Luna has excellent food, good prices, and lovely staff - you're guaranteed a friendly welcome and a good evening out (or in, if you're getting a takeaway to eat in front of the telly...)
