NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Arnold Tarling has recently joined Hindwoods as an Associate Director in the Professional department based at the Blackheath Office. In 1989 Arnold became a partner in the BETA Partnership undertaking building surveying work for various companies including Royal Mail and Post Office Counters Ltd as well as lecturing Degree and HND students as a part time lecturer at South Bank University. He set up as a sole practitioner in February 1998 trading as BETA Litigation Surveyors and BETA Structural Surveys Ltd. Arnold has been consulted by, and appeared on, BBC and ITV Regional News for a number of regions, BBC Inside Out, BBC Look West as well as numerous appearances as the expert on Cowboy Trap.

I rented a property with this company very recently and I have to say that they are an absolute joke. When I moved into the property they did not carry out the appropriate inventory or checks, choosing instead to give us (the four tenants) the inventory to fill out ourselves six months into the contract. Thankfully, we did not fill it in - and if they ask you to do this I advise that you do NOT fill it in without an inventory clerk present as you will miss important details that they will try and charge you for upon leaving. The house was in a complete state when we moved in, with various degrees of damage and mess (not to mention a bathroom that barely functioned, and a bath was about to fall through the downstairs ceiling). When we left the house we made sure to clean it thoroughly and left it in much better condition then when we arrived. However they proceeded to tell us that we had to pay from our deposit for damages and cleaning of the property. They are scam artists. It turned out that they hadn't conducted proper checks on the property for SEVEN years and wanted us to foot the bill for the damage. As we had not filled out an inventory, they had no proof of the condition of the house when we moved in - therefore they could not charge us. I would recommend any prospective tenants to this company to be very careful before signing any contracts and be aware that they will try and screw you over, they are unprofessional and have a huge disregard for the state of the properties they are managing. Any prospective landlords thinking of hiring them to manage their property - I would recommend you look elsewhere - they will not look after it professionally or appropriately.
