We have used the Heathpoint Interactive Information Kiosk since it inception in 2004 and we all our customers and staff would not be without it. I had commissioned a company in 2009 to provide televised marketing within my stores. In 2011 the company went into administration and my screens and updates became redundant. I have been a proactive community pharmacist for many years. The hardest part of health promotion of any sort is getting engaged with the community. Being the owner of a very heavy dispensing pharmacy in Carrickfergus equipped with a dispensing robot I realised that our pharmacy was overwhelmingly dependent on NHS dispensing income. This makes us vulnerable to rapid and imposed changes in the pricing of prescription medicine and remuneration. This coupled with the need to embrace a healthy living pharmacy concept and safeguard our business through developing new opportunities propelled me into seeking a solution to this dilemma. After some test marketing I established there was a market in Carrickfergus for some private health services which we could provide and a requirement to prepare the pharmacy for a service driven future. The installation of a consultation room coupled with superior marketing tools was the solution I arrived at. I looked around at various digital TV solutions and eventually decided to go with Healthpoint TV. The company uses a HD 1080 dpi media player that displays the content in perfect form with the content changed each month and holds that content on the media player rather than streaming it in constantly taking up valuable bandwidth. The service is silent so it does not drive my staff insane! The content is bespoke to my pharmacy brand and can be changed once a month and at my request. The content is deployed within 72 hours although it is usually faster. To change content is simple – you go to their website fill in the necessary form and what you want online and click to send the request. They do not force advertising on me and it has given me a portal in which I can market to our patients the range of current and new services we will be developing at Carrickfergus. I have had the system for 8 months now and am delighted with both the service level and the quality of content supplied.
