Have you spent £6,000 recently on damp proofing work but the problems have returned, only worse?
I can't offer a 'free' survey as I don't expect to frighten you into getting £0,000 of work from you. I will carry out an inspection of the problems your property is experiencing and give you sound, practical advice on how to fix them.
Damp 'specialists' are not inerested in remedying your buildings faults, they need to seel their products. Most damp problems are caused by ground levels which are too high, or by blocked sub floor ventilation or drainage problems. Putting waterproof plaster on the inside of a damp wall won't make that wall dry - it will get wetter and cause greated problems. Chemical injection doesn't work - ask me for examples - I have many of them.
Email is best as I am often on site.
Best wishes, John.
I respect old buildings and understand how they work.
I spent 4 years at university studying construction in all its forms and specialised in traditional construction (old buildings) and want to stop the damp industry defrauding people by frightening them into getting treatments which won't work.
There are a few simple principles which should be employed by owners of old buildings - all available on my website - and none of them include chemicals of any sort.
Look at Historic Scotland, Historic England, Cadw, Ntional Trust for Scotland, National Trust, Society for tyhe Protection of Ancient Building, Institute of Historic Building Conservation or read British Standard BS7913-2013 'Guide to the conservation of historic buildings'. None of these Government or Charity organisations recommend chemical treatment of old buildings - so why should you accept it?

This is a detailed and thorough inspection (as far as access allows) which provides a very detailed report written in plain English. Unlike other surveyors, I will fully explain the reasons for failures and provide detailed solutions for their remedy.
Price: from £695 plus mileage
A limited inspection which allows 4 hrs on site and is intended to inspect specific problems with your property, whether it is recurring dampness or rot, and provides clear remedies. This isn't a full building survey and shouldn't be confused with one.
