As a small family run business, Mobile One has been repairing and servicing vehicles in the Porthcawl area since 1993. We pride ourselves on our fast, friendly and cost effective service.

Anthony Roberts, the owner of Mobile One, is a time-served mechanic with a City & Guilds qualification in Automotive Vehicle Maintenance.

He attends various training courses every year to keep up to date with all the latest developments in automotive technology.

He is also a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, the UK's leading road safety charity, who are dedicated to increasing skills for all road users and helping to save lives on our roads.

Servicing and Repairs:

Servicing your car regularly is important to make sure it is safe to drive. It is also a way of making sure your vehicle has no other minor faults like loose nuts and bolts which - if left - could end up costing you a lot more money in the long run.

You should also get your car checked regularly because over time parts become worn, engine oil loses its ability to lubricate and protect the engine components and oil filters become blocked and are less able to filter away harmful particles from your engine.

Over time spark plugs will wear down, reducing your car's performance and increasing full consumption. This may go unnoticed, but will show up as a reduction in the engine's power and fuel efficiency. This can also result in unburnt petrol passing through the catalytic converter which will incur additional repair costs.

Vehicle servicing is not just for keeping your engine running in tip top condition, it is also a great asset when the time comes to sell or trade in your car - a full service history proves that your car has been well looked after throughout your ownership and this will result in an easier sale and a higher resale value.

When we carry out a service we also check vehicle suspension, lights, tyres, spare tyre, brakes and all fluid levels. We will also ensure the timing belt is replaced at the recommended time interval, as this can save you a costly repair.

Diagnostics:

As vehicle diagnostic systems have become more and more complex so has the need to invest in the equipment and training to use them. We have an excellent understanding of modern vehicle electronics and engine management systems and are constantly updating our equipment and keeping abreast of new developments in this technology.

If you have a warning light on your dash and would like either the error code read or just the light putting out, we can provide a fast and cost effective service which will provide you with a general diagnosis and a report of what can be done.

The diagnostic tools serve as a guide to help us to identify the problem. We would normally start with a code-read but then spend a maximum of two hours investigation time. If the fault has not been identified within that time, we would report to the customer our findings and recommendations before incurring any further labour costs. No parts would be fitted without customer consent.

Modern day vehicles are equipped with a vast array of ECUs which require dedicated computerised tools to interrogate the system when faults occur. We carry the latest up-to-date diagnostic machines enabling us to carry out engine management, ABS, Airbag and body control module - all of which must be in full working condition in order for your vehicle to pass the MOT test.

When any of the above lights are illuminated it indicates a fault with the system - we can retreive a fault code from the car's computer to enable us to carry out further tests to rectify the fault. All code are erased and warning lights put out when the fault is rectified.

Auto Locksmith

Vehicle security is constantly improving and today's cars are far more secure than those of yesterday. Modern day vehicles are equipped with immobiliser systems that require communication between the key and the vehicle for it to start. The vehicle key has a small microchip known as a transponder that holds specific information in relation to the vehicle and communicates with the vehicle's immobiliser. Whilst this is good for security it can be a big problem if your keys become lost, damaged or stolen.
Main dealers can replace keys but it can be a time consuming and expensive process. Mobile One has invested heavily in specialist decoding machinery that enables us to cut and program new keys for the majority of cars.
