I can't rate Corrieri's highly enough. It may be a cafe but don't be fooled as it's a wonderful Italian restaurant with fantastic food, ice cream, coffee etc.It seems to be busy all the time and it's advisable to book in the evenings. It sits at the foot of the Wallace Monument and is right next to Causewayhead Park. Perhaps for this reason it's popular with families stopping in before heading home. Unfortunately, once the kids have had a taste of the ice cream served here, they'll be nagging mum and dad to take them back again. It's a family run business and I believe it has won awards. I've certainly paid a few early evening visits for a meal here instead of other Italian restaurants in the vicinity.

Wonderful place for lunch or dinner, or a coffee and cake, or for ice-cream, or....need I go on?? Good meal for two without alcohol can be had for £25. Great pasta dishes, great pizzas - everything you could want a local, old-fashioned Italian cafe and eatery to be. Always busy in the evenings. Great friendly staff, great atmosphere, great prices.

Husband and I booked the babysitter on a Friday night and headed off for a meal out at Corrieri's at Causewayhead. Really good straightforward Italian food served quickly - and great value (for me, the test of an Italian restaurant is the authenticity of their Bolognese sauce and Corrieri's passed with fying colours). A buzzy atmosphere with lots of families having a lovely time - very laid back and it made us wish that we'd brought our wee man with us. It reminded us of a past holiday in Rome where people ate out late and brought all the kids with them and no-one blinked an eye but just accepted and enjoyed the company of the bambinos. (PS they also serve the best scrambled eggs in Scotland on a Sunday morning - information I was almost reluctant to pass on in case you all rush there and there'll be no room for us and our Sunday papers). See you there!
