Glasgow just would not be the same without the GFT, it is quite simply an institution and one of the coolest places to hang out in the city. Arthouse films - they have them. Subtitled films - they do them. Old classics which have been reissued - this is the place. Also, a lovely small bar (wish there were more seats though) and programmes which are a delight to read. I've seen everything from Cinema Paradiso to Withnail and I to Amelie here. Also some stinkers, mind you, like Heartbeat Detector recently. Long live the GFT as an alternative to the multiplex.

The GFT is situated on Rose St, just off Sauchiehall street in the Glasgow City centre. It is the leading independant cinema outlet in Glasgow. It regularly shows cinema and documentary from all over the world, the only cinema in Glasgow to do with such. It attracts a more mature and interesting crowd than say Cineworld does, the people who go tend to be real film enthusiasts. Insise it is faultless, the bar serves a wide selection of food and drink at reasonable prices, you can even take a beer to your seat to watch the film if you wish! A top venue.

Went to a back-to-back screening of some Marx Brothers films here a few years ago. A fantastic atmosphere because of a combination of the small cinema making it feel cosy and personal, and the place being full of Marx Brothers' fans! It's been some time since I had food/drink in the bar, but it used to be pretty reasonable.
