I would love to try everything on the menu!

I live over the river and canal in Bramley and we decided to wander over the bridges to Horsforth for a leisurely Saturday lunch and stumbled across Kobe Bar.From reading the menu outside which looked delicious we ventured inside and were greeted by attentive and polite staff.Although we could easily have eaten anything on the menu - and would love to try the Kobe burger at some point - we choose two of the sharing platters to split between the three of us and shared the World platter and the Vegetable platter. There was a wealth of variety within the platters and the two healthily fed three fairly decent appetites. The vegetable platter was a varied treat too for vegetarians without just being deep friend vegetables! Some may say the serving dishes on chopping boards and steam bamboo baskets were gimicky, but I think they added to the meal.I love the fact that Kobe try and source some of their ingredients and name their local suppliers, although this does contrast dramatically with their presumably Japanese imported Kobe beef!Overall it was a very pleasant eating experience, we sat outside in the September sun (possibly one of the only days it was available) and I found the decor overall to be contemporary, but not overly pretentious. If I were to have one criticism it would be that the prices are perhaps 10% more than I would have expected for a Horsforth based bar/restaurant, but then I can't knock the quality of the food and would definitely return and take guests with me - highly recommended!

Nice to have a fresh new place to go. It used to be Fat Francos and that was getting a bit old and tired. The bar and seating areas are lovely and wouldn't look out of place down by the Calls in Leeds. However 3 out of the 5 that ate were not pleased with their meal, and there were quite a few items that were not available - no excuses really even tho it was a Monday night.Food served on chopping boards - gimmicky but no neeed - what's wrong with a good-old-fashioned plate!!Like I said - probably better placed in the more poncey areas of Leeds as I'm not sure the students of Horsforth want to spend £16 on burger 'n' chips!
