Poor quality, poor value

I have never eaten in the restaurant itself. But chose rather bravely to order take-out, as my first experience. The service, timeliness and delivery could not be faulted. However, the food quality and price could be. I ordered penne arrabiata and mixed side salad. The  pasta arrived hot, the salad cold, both in separate bags, which was a good start. Although that is where the good news ended for the pasta dish. It tasted like a supermarket ready meal or a dish created using a jar of sauce. It certainly did not taste freshly prepared. The salad was as described and contained large green and black good quality olives. The price however was a joke. Nearing £6 for some salad leaves, lettuce, cucumber, tomato and onion slices with no dressing. A comparison on price and quality would be Jamie's Italian, a restaurant I regularly eat-in. Here the Arrabiata is not only spelt correctly on the menu but tastes fresh and flavoursome. The bright red sauce coats the individual pasta pieces. Unlike at Stone's where the pasta and sauce congeal into clumps. The pasta is priced some 50p higher but the side salad prices start from half the cost of Stone's. And let's not forget that Jamie's prices are for eating-in, whereas Stone's are for take-away. May I suggest the chef and/or proprietor visit Jamie's and experience the difference themselves. The best bit of this meal was it was delivered. The worst, that I had to eat it...

Genuine Italian Pizza

My wife, friends and I love this restaurant. The pizzas are oustanding and I would recommend anyone to go there and try it out for yourself. The pizzas are hand made in front of you and then cooked in a wood fired oven. They are traditional Italian pizzas not the perfectly round pizzas you will find in most restaurants and you can even taste the mozzarella in the base. The flavour is fantastic, especially having been cooked in the wood fired oven. Go there and try it for yourself.

Customers smoking ruined the experience

We've been to Pizzaroma twice. The first time, we enjoyed our meal (gnocchi with tomato basil sauce and one of the rose cream sauce pasta specials). No one smoked in the restaurant. So we decided to go back. However, this time, we did not enjoy our meal. The gnocchi were good as usual but the quill pasta and sausages with tomato sauce were drowning in oil. It was too greasy. To make matters worse, it seems the restaurant allows customers to smoke indoors (even providing an ashtray). This is a very small place and the 2 customers that smoked had no regard for other diners, who were obviously also bothered by the smoke. We noticed that two customers left shortly after they were seated (right next to the smokers). In hindsight, we should have left as soon as we realized that people were smoking. The cigarette smoking really ruined the dining experience. No offense to smokers, but some people just don't enjoy tasting and inhaling others' smoke while trying to enjoy a meal. We didn't bother addressing the issue with management. What's the point? The smokers seemed to be their friends. So for this reason, we will definitely not be back. We surely don't want to risk being exposed to smoke and have it ruin our meal.
