The Architects were Crampin and Pring and won the British Council of Shopping Centres' 1986 Award in the small centre category and the 1987 Guildford Heritage Award. White Lion Walk Shopping Centre were the Surrey Disability Awards Winner for 2002.The Centre consists of three atrium buildings forming linear pattern malls providing 53,454 square feet of retail accommodation. The second floor retail area is now occupied by Next, following an extensive redevelopment of the centre in 1999.
The site is owned by Friends Life Company Ltd and managed by Capita Symonds on their behalf. The site was previously occupied by Woolworths, part of which has been retained to form an integral part of the building with a frontage onto Phoenix Court, and the White Lion Public House, converted to retail use. The development, completed in February 1986, was forward funded by Britel Fund Trustees Limited and undertaken jointly by Clayform Properties plc and Tarmac Properties Ltd.
