The following review is a true experience we've had, not intended as slanderous. I leave this review in the hope other people do not use this unprofessional excuse of a business. We went to this business as a last resort, me and the wife spent 2 days preparing our tax returns, done all the expenses, all the equations, just needed someone to use the correct computer software for hmrc online tax returns. On our 1st and only visit of mays accounting Ltd we were very sceptical as the premises was like a neglected scrap yard upon arrival, there's overgrown garden, neglected vehicles, manky caravan, just unsightly, unnerving and unprofessional looking. We had a meeting with Karen, to let her know of our requirements she stated "seems very easy to do as you've done all the hard work, I just have to recheck your sums, I've had returns with bags of receipts thrown at me. Should take me 2-3hours to complete" nope intentionally charged the earth for a bread and butter job. Avoid

Quick to rob your pocket

Please note the property listed on here is not her premises, there's overgrown garden, neglected vehicles, manky caravan, just unsightly, unnerving and unprofessional looking. We had a meeting with Karen, to let her know of our requirements she stated "seems very easy to do as you've done all the hard work, I just have to recheck your sums, I've had returns with bags of receipts thrown at me. Should take me 2-3hours to complete" we thought that seems about right. Waited a few weeks as deadlines drew nearer, she was very slow in responses, unprofessional, rude, she didnt have a clue, she stated we had to pay compulsory tax (which was incorrect) making excuses after excuses, gave her our UTR number's, she moaned because we did the right thing by declaring our business is a partnership "oh more hard work for me" she said. There were 9 very small tax returns to do, very small due to lack of work courtesy of the pandemic, She constantly moaned and argued about the smallest thing, she wasn't even willing to send in this years due tax return until we mentioned its being asked for by hmrc, she denied we got a hmrc reminder letter. She kept changing the cost of her services making them more and more.. whilst hmrc said it would be bread and butter for an accountant to go through. well this simple job was the perfect opportunity for her to charge the earth for someone In receipt of disability payments. Snake oil saleswoman isn't the word.. After finally urging her to send the returns after recieving numerous excuses from her not to, she finally did, the quote we received was absolutely unacceptable, she charged for text messages, (disgraceful) charged to go online to see if universal credit was taxable income (without our consent) charged us for anti money laundering letters, which isnt our concern, which also wasn't sent with the correct postage, so we had to drive to royal mail to pay a fee for her mess up.. she denied she was at fault, (you couldn't make this up!) also the hours she stated she worked couldn't of been a reality. We told her we don't have much fund's from the beginning but we got robbed.. again an opportunity to take the mick out of people on PIP, she was content with taking disability money. The rude and obnoxious texts we received were atrocious, affecting mental health, causing unnecessary anxiety and stress, unnecessary grievances.. I'd avoid like the plague, go elsewhere for your tax returns unless you're content with being took for a ride to get your pockets emptied whilst receiving rude and unprofessional attitude. YOU NEED TO GO TO A PROFESSIONAL.

Great Service
Karen at Mays Accounting did a great job sorting my Business tax return, on time & within budget, even getting me a refund. She also gave me some usefull advise about whether to go Ltd or not. Highly recommeneded!
