Specialist motor industry knowledge

I worked as a senior lawyer in the motor industry for many years, dealing with disputes involving both manufacturers and dealerships as well as, of course, their customers. Whatever your problem, I've probably got some insights into how to best resolve it, because of my specialist background.

I am a very experienced businessman and lawyer.

I worked in commerce and industry at a senior level for thirty years. I was a director of a PLC and, at another time, I was Company Secretary of a listed company for ten years. I am comfortable dealing with business people at all levels, and I understand their priorities and concerns.

Mediation is better than going to court

You are in control of the mediation process, because you don't have to do anything or agree anything unless you are happy to do so. You can explore solutions not available to a court, which may be better for you - better for everyone, in fact. You may be able to preserve a business or personal relationship which a full-blown court case might destroy. You have nothing to lose by trying mediation.

I know how big businesses think

I have worked for big businesses, and I have defended their interests in negotiations, and in court. I have likewise fought other big businesses. I know what is important to them, and what is not.

The human touch

I never ever forget that I am dealing with people, for whom what has happened is bound to be extremely stressful. I am hard on the problem, but soft on the people. It is not my job to tell you that you are right, or that you are wrong, but it is my job to help you find a solution which you can live with, and which will be better than your best alternative.

I will come to you

The mediation will take place at a venue agreed between the parties. As mediator I come to that venue, wherever it might be; you do not have to come to me. And I can often be available at short notice - a matter of a few days.

Fantastic value for money

For a start, the cost is usually shared between the parties. That cost will depend on the amount of money at stake, and on how long the parties need me for. But a mediation generally takes only one day (although it can be a long day), whereas a court case can run on for several days, with the heavy costs that can involve. If you lose in court you may have to pay some of the other side's costs as well as your own, and even if you win you will almost always still have to pay some of your own costs, unless you have insurance. So although mediation may not look cheap, compare it to the cost of a court case, and you will see that it represents fantastic value for money,
