Ammonia in mushy peas !

Service

Value

We have tried this place for the first time last week. The fact chips were wet from grease or that the staff was really nice is not at all important in here as the mushy peas had very strong ammonia smell and taste!! Two first bites and after taste were very weird / chemical and when we smelled the pot of peas it gave us suffocating nose burning sensation of ammonia, same one you can smell while bleaching/colouring your hair. We were shocked. Absolute tragedy! Save your health and avoid this place at all cost. Who knows what other products have been mixed up with or how old the other food is. It was escalated to Food Standard Agency but they were given an explanation it is due to too much bicarbonate of soda... really??? What bicarbonate of soda has to ammonia smell / taste? Absolutely nothing! Ammonia taste / aroma is due to the animal or vegetable matter starting to decompose, so it was not fresh by any means, and it is a poisonous substance! Food Standard Agency did not pick it up and I guess would take on board any explanation they could get. When I asked what it has to do with ammonia lady agreed she does not know as she is not biologist.. Really? So tip if you run a business and you are serving decaying food or you fancy a wee into your food or bottle of chemical accidentally falls into it - just tell Food Standard Agency the taste and smell is due bicarbonate of soda. Story will be swallowed by them as gold :) We will never ever eat in this place again, sorry.
