All types of Carpentry and Joinery Work. Neil Bathgate offers a wide range of carpentry and joinery services. These services range from timber framed building projects and domestic alterations through to hand-made doors and windows and bespoke internal joinery including built-in bookcases wardrobes and hardwood furniture. Friendly professional clean and tidy and an excellent standard of work.
About Us
Neil completed his engineering degree at Oxford Brookes University in 2003 and subsequently became involved in the construction industry. Several years of working in the general building trade equipped Neil with a broad range of experience and began what would become a passion for carpentry and joinery. The garden bench featured on this site is a great example of Neils fresh approach to design. Neil loves to produce excellent work and relishes a challenge whether it be renewing the door of a listed cottage or creating very contemporary fitted wardrobes. Excellence is his highest value both in terms of the work he produces and the experience of his clients. Neil has been living in Oxfordshire since 1999 and now lives in West Oxfordshire with his wife and daughter.

Converted garage & custom bookcase
Neil provided an insulated second wall to our converted garage which looks great and is now nice an warm. He also built a custom bookshelf in our study which is very professional. I would recommend Neil for any carpentry job that you may have. He is also a really nice guy, hard working and reliable.

Staircase banister / other work
Neil designed and constructed a customised staircase banister, and made some other repairs to our old staircase. He also customised the three bottom stairs, to include storage space underneath the stairs (an idea I had read about in a magazine!). He completed all the work quickly and according to the agreed plans and quotation. I am very satisfied with the final work, and am pleased to recommend Neil's services.

Custom made oak front door
Neil designed and constructed a custom oak front door from scratch for our house and we are delighted with the results. Since then he has also carried out other miscellaneous joinery work for us and the results are the same – excellent craftsmanship, great service and a reasonable price. I would not hesitate to recommend Neil's services.

Neil Bathgate Carpenter and Joiner
Neil has helped with the construction of a porch and the installation of garden gates. I have found his work of the highest standard in both cases. He couldn't have been more helpful and thorough in his attention to detail and his willingness to do a good job. I recommend him unreservedly.

TV Unit
Neil designed and built a slim line TV unit to fit into an awkward space in our living room, which would have otherwise been wasted. The end result is very flush and in keeping with the rest of the house, so much so that people often think it came with the house - he blended the unit into the room perfectly. We're delighted with Neil's work, and have already commissioned him to produce other bespoke items for the house.

Garden Bench
Neil's craftsmanship is top notch. The bench he has made not only displays his undoubted flair for design, but also his keen eye for detail and his talent for making non-uniform shapes from wood. He is a very pleasant chap, and exudes professionalism. I would happily recommend Neil to anyone, and will certainly use him again.

Double glazed windows and front door
Neil made some wooden double glazed windows and a new front door for our cottage. As the cottage is old the window & door frames are unusual sizes so they needed to be custom made. We are so pleased with the result as they really enhance the appearance of our home. They are excellent quality and yet reasonably priced for the quality of work. Neil is very professional, really polite and easy to have around the house and he is very tidy. We have recommended him to our friends and we will definitely use his services again in the future.

Bespoke furniture and windows
We have commissioned Neil a few times over the last few years. He is extremely talented and we have found the end results to be brilliant! He is very aware of working in peoples homes, very considerate and very forthcoming with well informed contributions to projects as well. I would refer anyone to him for high quality work at a sensible price.
