K-Wood Has Water

The national press my have only recently started covering the lack of water story, but we have been aware of the problem since October 2011 when we couldn't fill the tanks in the loft.

Yes, back in October I was having breakfast and keeping an eye on TankCam when the water stopped filling the tanks before the pump switched off.

I gave up trying to find someone to sort out the problems with the old water system (leaks, liable to freeze during power cuts, springs drying up etc) and eliminate our water supply problems once and for all.

K-Wood now has a 30 metre deep borehole and new pump. When left pumping over night we were getting around 500 gallons an hour in the morning, far, far more than we will ever need. Our generator isn't going to run South Newington but it will keep the water pump working during a long power cut.

So after 23 years of water supply problems, we now have a reliable water supply.

Threescore and five years ago my mother brought forth, in this sceptred isle, a new life. Born in a century tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage.

Now as I enter the sixth act of life, tis time to empty the last litter tray.

Or to put it another way, in January 2013 I'll be 65 years old, and taking my pension.

In many ways I regret closing K-Wood Cattery, which has been my life for the last 24 years. I'll miss my guests (some more than others) and I thank the customers who have supported me over the years.

For anyone who wishes to get in touch with me in the future, I intend to keep my current numbers for a while. However it seems that as a residential BT customer I have to revert to analogue 'phone lines. If my current number is unobtainable try adding 302 (sum, not concatenation).
