I am repulsed by the treatment I received from Alligator Storage. My boyfriend and I are travelers from the U.S. We put out carryon luggage in storage while we traveled the UK for six months. Two weeks ago when we went to get out stuff out the man at the desk was an incompetent jerk to say the least. I walked up to the desk and said I was there to check out. He stared at me for a minute with a dumb look on his face, then replied finally, "Well what is your name," as if I should have simply read his mind. Then he gave me a form to fill out with my information. I did and I handed it back to him. He then in a derogatory tone asked, "Don't you have an address in the UK?" To which I replied, "No we are not from here." Then his tone growing more derogatory and rude he asked, "Don't you have a UK phone number?" Again I stated, "No, we are travelers. We are not from here." All the while this man was speaking to me in the rude manner, it went ignored by the other man at the desk helping sign up new customers for a unit. Again the man signing me out of my unit asked, "You don't have a relative's address and phone number you could give?" Again I told him, "No. I did not." He then just stood and stared at me again. He did not say we were through, or make any kind of gesture to print a receipt. Upon listening to the other man as he assisted the people signing an agreement for a unit, I was reminded of the deposit I was supposed to receive upon check out. So I asked about this. The man working with me stated in a very matter of fact insulting tone, "Well, you are supposed to give us two weeks’ notice you are moving out." This comment caused me to lose my temper because I HAD given FOUR weeks’ notice of my plan to move out when I called the month before to make a payment, which had to be made monthly due to not having a UK bank account. (I was treated in a similar rude way the day I signed up for the unit for not having an account here.) I told the man, "I DID give notice four weeks ago, when I called to make my last payment." He argued and stated, "Well it doesn't say anything about it in our computer." Getting more upset for being called a liar and the blatant disrespectful treatment I was receiving, I replied, "And it is my fault your computer doesn't state the facts about what happened, so now I don't get my deposit back?" Again he stared blankly at me and repeated, "You are supposed to give two weeks’ notice before moving out." AGAIN, I stated for the second time, "I DID give two weeks’ notice. In fact I gave FOUR weeks’ notice when I called last month to make a payment." Still saying NOTHING regarding my refund he stood staring back at me. The other man did nothing to help either. After several minutes of no one saying anything to me, I asked again about the deposit I was supposed to receive. Again he replied for the third time, "You are supposed to give two weeks’ notice." At this point I asked for the phone number for a manager I should call regarding this matter. For the third time I reminded him I did give four weeks’ notice I was moving out. I asked again if I could have my refund. He told me it had to be issued by a supervisor, who would not be in until tomorrow. He said the supervisor would issue a refund for the deposit. I asked if it would credit to my account or be sent as a check to my address in the U.S. He told me it would be sent to my address. Still he made no attempt to give me some kind of receipt. I was told upon signing up for the unit, receipts would be kept for my monthly payments and given to me when I checked out. I asked about my receipts and he said those are not usually given. With that I grabbed my things and left. No apology was given for how I was treated. The two clerks stood behind the counter with the same dumb looks on the faces, and the new customers looked frightened to be signing up for their unit. Now it is over two weeks later, and I have called my mother in law to see if the check ever came, it did NOT. Alligator Storage is completely ridiculous. The man who signed me up for the unit couldn't keep his eyes off my breasts. Along with the treatment I received upon signing out, I am disgusted with the employees and their lack of capability of taking care of their customers. They showed no sign of critical thinking. I was asked the same questions repeatedly in a discourteous obnoxious manner. We moved out July 18, and still I have yet to receive my deposit.
