I bought fish from Kayes despite my better judgement and a week later white fungus has developed on one of the fish bought. Every time I go into the shop the fish are always being quarantined, obviously they didn't do a good job. I use to work in a pet shop in the States and I I can honestly say these animals are not cared for properly. They are dirty, unhealthy and the birds, etc are not socialised with at all. This place is an absolute disgrace for any pet lover. I recommend you purchase any pets elsewere.

I know kayes pet centre very well, have been going their for years, i have gotten to know all the staff and they are a geat bunch, they care considerably for customers and their animals, they always ensure animals are well cared for, they also willing to go that extra mile to help a customer, they will help carry your larger brought items to your bus stop/taxi rank/car.. good old fashioned customer service with a smile(btw i havent been paid to write this lol) i just dont like this shop given negative comments, while others that are appauling get away with seling negleted animals,.. they generally do care, manager is always available to help! Thanks for reading haha

After going into kayes for the first time i must say that it has to be one of the worse pet shops in nottingham, staff are rude and do not like doing much more than standing around talking to each other, clueless about animal care and i wouldnt recommend any other person to go there, they dont even know the basics....i.e sexing a hamster correctly, would be nice if the shop had abit of air freshner too, or even better CLEAN THE ANIMAL PENS OUT MORE, ONCE A WEEK ISNT GOOD ENOUGH, that it all folks...

Bought a Guinea pig in December who was 11 weeks old and kept with a male in small cage. the previous week i asked what sex they were, (which they got in correct) and when I went back they admitted. Sale assistants were clueless to care of guinea pigs and denied there was any possibility of pregnancy. Any long term guinea pig owner would know that as of 3 weeks guinea pigs can mate. Guess what? the sow i took home to care for better is pregnant. something they claimed very rarely happened....

Just bought 2 lovely healthy budgies from Kayes. Have to say though, that there were loads of budgies crammed in one tiny cage, no toys or treats for them. Not good : ( M

Went into the shop looking to buy a guinea pig, the entire litter of baby pigs on sale had scabby skin, and I was told they were being sent back to the breeder for "treatment". I was also shocked and saddened by the sight of quite large birds crammed into a single cage with not enough room to even spread their wings. Most of the stock is also overpriced, particulary the hamster cages.

I went into kayes as I was wanting to buy a guinea pig I walked into the shop looked around for a while but nobody offered to help me or asked if i needed advice more fool them as i would have been spending quite alot as i needed everything that goes with ur first guinea.I also found the animals living quarters very small and dark too many birds all in a small area very sad although i have to say seemed clean. Now gone to pets at home much better sales service, and animals living conditions

the guinea pigs in this pet shop are of all mixed sexes and i think it is sooo wrong as they are only abbies and they can breed from the age of 3 weeks !!!!!! I go in there and i find it soo sad, not sure about the other pets but they are kept in tiny spaces, im only knowledgable about guinea pigs as i have 22 of my own
