CSRT Qualified Damp Specialists & Members of the Property Care Association

Our Qualifications and Accreditations
We are fully qualified, damp specialists who hold both the Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment (CSRT) and the Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW) qualifications. We are members of the Property Care Association (PCA), formerly the British Wood Preserving and Damp-proofing Association (BWPDA). This means we work to the Association's stringent guidelines and undergo rigorous on-going verification checks to maintain our membership status. You can, therefore, be confident that work completed by Damptec Systems Ltd will meet industry-approved levels of competency, quality and customer care. We offer guarantee protection insurance through our FSA approved and regulated insurance policy for complete peace of mind.

Treatments for Rising Damp

At Damptec Systems Ltd we are experts in damp control and, in accordance with the Property Care Association Code of Practice, will investigate the causes, diagnose and treat areas of rising damp in your home using the latest techniques. Our system provides a dry surface ready for decoration within 7-10 days of treatment. We offer a ten year guarantee for our rising damp work as well as an insurance backed guarantee via GPI Insurance.

General Surveys and Pre-Purchase Surveys

Our surveys are carried out in line with British Standard BS6576 and the Property Care Association (PCA) Code of Practice, and by surveyors who hold the industry recognised Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment qualification. You can, therefore, be confident that a Damptec survey will meet industry-approved levels of competency, quality and customer care.

Mortgage lenders will often ask for a damp and timber survey to ensure that a property is sound. One of their requirements is usually that this work be carried out by a PCA member. Damptec Systems Limited is currently the only independent, family run damp proofing company in the North East Midlands with PCA membership.

We also carry out surveys for a variety of clients, including local authorities, landlords, building contractors as well as private clients.

We specialise in diagnosing the source of any damp and providing professional recommendations as to how to treat the problem. We will also quote for any treatment works.

For our damp surveys and reports we charge a fee, which is refundable for most of our basic surveys if we carry out any treatment work which has been recommended. This is in recognition of our specialist qualifications and accreditation to the Property Care Association. This document is then yours to do with as you choose but it will provide a useful detailed record of the damp issues and recommended treatments for your property produced by an industry-recognised specialist.

Timber treatment: woodworm, wet rot and dry rot

Woodworm is actually a generic term for a number of wood boring insects that can infest your home and attack the wood, the most common of these being common furniture beetle (Anobium Punctatum). Woodworm is often associated with dampness as poor ventilation and high humidity are aspects of both problems. You may have woodworm if you can spot exit holes in your wood which can be up to 2mm in diameter along with small piles of bore dust. If you are unsure then Damptec are available to conduct a survey and recommend the correct course of action if woodworm is present.

We operate in accordance with the Property Care Association (PCA) Remedial Timber Treatment Code of Practice based on current best practice for the in situ treatment of common wood destroying beetles and fungal decay for contractors specialising in remedial treatment. Damptec staff have received training in the safe and effective use of the products involved.

Basement Conversion and Structural Waterproofing

Waterproofing structures that are below ground is a highly specialised operation and must involve contractors and designers who have the requisite levels of skill, understanding and experience. Failures resulting from inadequate specifications or poor workmanship can be very costly.

Carl Weatherhead, Director of Damptec Systems Ltd, holds the CSSW (Certified Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing) qualification. You can therefore be confident that work completed by Damptec will meet industry approved levels of competency, quality and customer care in line with BS 8102 (2009) the Code of Practice for the Protection of Below Ground Structures Against Water from the Ground.

We specialise in basement conversions across South Yorkshire and the North and East Midlands.

Our level of expertise means that we are able to sign off completed basement conversion works ourselves. This is important if you wish at some point in the future to sell your property.

Condensation

Our surveyors will come to your property to diagnose if there are excessive levels of condensation by recording amongst other things the level of relative humidity against the ambient air temperature in your home. We can then offer you detailed advice about how to reduce the levels of moisture.

Testimonials

The property was found to be suffering from the effects of rising damp in the left hand reception and kitchen as evidenced by the moisture profile taken. The gable wall and rear wall of the living room are suffering from lateral penetrating damp due to the adjacent raised external ground levels. Our chemical injection damp proof course, together with the membrane system, is extremely effective at controlling the progress of rising damp transferring from the ground into the wall structure via capillary action. We have found this method to be more successful than other methods of treatment as the diffusible chemical damp proofing cream used is odourless, non-flammable, non-staining, non-salting and non-toxic and is safe for the environment. Jane wrote to us after the work was completed:- We were very pleased with the work carried out by Damptec – both the survey and the work itself were undertaken professionally and efficiently. Carl worked extremely hard and to a very high standard. We are delighted with the results and very relieved to know that our longstanding damp problems have been resolved. Very many thanks.

Jane

At a recent survey for damp. Our surveyor found the decor spoiling on the party wall, rear wall and into the lounge/kitchen wall with damp staining and efflorescing salts visible. Readings were taken from internal surfaces of all accessible walls at ground floor level using an electronic moisture meter and visual observations were made. 18% moisture content was recorded in the skirting on the affected walls putting it just below the 20% threshold for the risk of decay. Excessive moisture with a profile indicative of rising damp was evident to further walls in the lounge. Rising Damp The property was suffering from the effects of rising damp as evidenced by the moisture profile Treatment This would include: • Removing skirting boards and internal plaster to 300mm above the last visible signs of moisture (or a minimum of 1.2M) and removing from the property. • Injecting the walls where specified with a chemical damp proof course using Triton damp proofing cream. • Mechanically fixing cavity drainage membrane on the chimney breast. • Installing Dryrod damp proofing rods in the walls where specified. • Applying a render with a 3:1 sand and cement mix with a Trimix additive containing a water and salt resistant product • Applying another layer of render with the 3:1 sand and cement mix • Re-plastering Cleaning the site We later received this wonderful review on google from the customer Cannot praise this company enough excellent customer care and such pleasant people the work they did for me to rid my front room of rising damp was second to none i would highly recommend them.
