I've lost count of the number of times we've eaten at the Bengal Brasserie. In all honesty, I've not even tried the two other Indian restaraunts that have opened recently very close by - I know I'm going to enjoy my meal at the BB so I wouldn't walk past it to go somewhere else. Typically, the BB is busy on nights when the others are empty too, so it's not just me.I think the meals are fairly priced, there's a great selection, including quite a few things I've never seen anyweher else. My vegetarian friends are always impressed that there's such a good choice for them too. There's recently been quite a few additions to the menu too (which is on their website - you can judge for yourself). The service is spot on, the waiters are friendly, inubtrusive and I've yet to have them get an order wrong. I'm always impressed by how one waiter can clear the dishes from a whole table of four in one trip too.

We were not particularly keen on this curry house. Yes, it is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of the town centre and really really close to the york minster, but we all found it to be a little expensive for the quality of food that we got. I had a chicken madras with pilao rice, but it felt a lot hotter than a madras normally does. Perhaps it was approacing a vindaloo strength, it was that hot! This should not be the case. others in our group reported that their korma was hotter than normal too. perhaps the chef that night had a little accident when putting the chili powder in! Do not think we will bother going back.
