Healthy trees and hedges need year-round care to keep them free of disease. Cedar Difference has more than 12 years experience as professionally qualified tree surgeons working for individual customers and public bodies in Greater London Surrey Oxon and Bucks.
Our work is to BS 3998 Standard. We use well maintained equipment and our expert staff provide service that is both cost effective and efficient.
Courteous and Professional Tree Service
We have over 12 years experience with all aspects of tree care and arboriculture as well as a highly regarded emergency call-out service. Cedar Difference offers crown reduction, tree felling and stump removal, conservation area planning applications, tree protection orders, pruning, and hedge trimming. We are fully insured, work to BS3998 Standard and are NPTC qualified.
Tree felling
Taking down a big tree takes place in two phases. The first phase requires climbing the tree in harness to cut away its branches. At this time, guide ropes are placed at the top of the tree in order to anchor it to the ground. This will ensure that it falls in the right direction after it's cut at the base.
The second phase takes place on the ground. This is when cuts are made to the trunk. When cutting is complete, the surgeon uses the guide ropes to fell the tree in the safest direction.

Crown reduction
Cedar Difference follows the natural shape of the tree when reducing its crown. This ensures that regrowth is in proportion throughout the whole tree.

Fantastic & High Quality Service
Would like to thank Steven and his colleague for providing a fantastic service. They were very professional, friendly and very consultative from the beginning. Excellent job
Steven and his colleague did a great job! They took care of several large Leylandii by removing parts of the three which were leaning on the roof and they reshaped them & reduced their height. The Ceanothus was prune back from the neighbor's side and some limbs that were leaning on the roof were removed. Last but not least he took care of all hedges. Steven and his colleague worked very professional and they were extremely neat & tidy.

There was a terrible sized tree stump where we wanted our deck to be built. Steven ground it down and cleaned the whole place. My husband didn't know at first they were there that day - it was so clean.

First Class

Dead tree removal
Steven came yesterday to remove our dead Cherry tree and cut back a willow to give us more light. I was so happy with the service. He was friendly and took time to understand exactly what I wanted and how far back to cut the branches. He was extremely conciencious and thorough and cleared up the debrie and sawdust so well that you couldn't tell he'd been there. I will certain use him in the future to manage our trees.

Garden feels twice the size now
Thank you Steven and team, a great job, trees completely gone and no damage. Wouldn't know they had been there. Again sorry about the squidgy garden. Inspired by you I went on to remove a few more small shrubs at the weekend.

Excellent service
Steven gave us a very competitive quotation to remove a fallen willow tree, carried out the work very quickly, and left the site extremely tidy. All in all we were very impressed and would definitely use Cedar Difference again.

Dangerous tree problem solved
My back garden has no rear access and is on a terrace - so any tree pieces and mess must be carried through the house. When Steve and his team trimmed my hedges last spring, he advised that a large tree located very close to my house had a decayed core and should come down. I couldn't face the potential mess but decided to take action as winter could knock the tree onto the roof. I'm very glad I did, Seven personally supervised the clean-up and they were done in less than a day! It was so immaculate in the house that when my husband came home he thought the job was still not done. Thank you, Steven. You have one loyal customer.

Trimmed to Perfection
Steve will be back next year after trimming my large runaway bay tree as beautifully as in any stately home grounds, and my olive tree into a delightful ball shape, now masterpieces in my small suburban garden. Artistically trimmed Leylandii
This is the third year Steve has trimmed the Leylandii and the result is always good. His team arrived on time and produce a compact and artistically shaped set of Leylandii, and they left the area cleaner than before they arrived. This striking result may be what people passing by notice, but for me it’s Steve’s depth of knowledge, good advice and how he strives to meet my expectation that means I’ll be calling him again next year.

A Bramley Apple Tree that wants to be larger.
Steve has been dealing with the complications of pruning largish trees and shrubs in the confined space of my garden since 2005. I should be lost without him. Perhaps like many in London, I like the plants full grown for the privacy and yet they need the 'knife'. Steve will always do what I want but at the same time will give good advice. One of his achievements for me is coping with a productive Bramley apple tree that wants to be larger.

Another Conifer Blighted Garden
Our Garden was surrounded by some thirty Leylandii conifers and we finally wanted to see daylight. Steve and co conducted a marathon of felling, shreddiing,and finally stump grinding to remove all traces of root that may have caused subsequent problems when we relaid the garden. The whole episode over a period of days was conducted professionally and with good humour and courtesy. The garden was left so clean that you would never have believed that so much work had taken place. Steve has done other work for me since, and I would look nowhere else

Copper Beech pruning
We have used Steve's services for many years, usually to trim our large copper beech tree, awkwardly placed overhanging a busy public road. He has always been prompt, courteous and very efficient, removing all debris and leaving our garden in an immaculate condition. We would recommend his services for all types of arborial work.

Conifer Ridden Garden!
We had a garden with conifers the entire way round, and finally had enough and wanted rid. Steve and Darren have done a sterling job in getting rid of them all, and getting rid of the roots. They also left my drive cleaner than it was before they arrived! Would highly recommend.

Asian Apple Tree and conifers
I have hired Steve twice over the last few years and he has provided impartial professional advice (with obligation or hard sell) and gave detailed quotations so there were no surprises. Steve and his team executed the crowning of a large tree and other conifers that required logging. The jobs were completed promptly, to a very high standard and tidied up properly. I have no qualms in recommending his services and Steve also advised on how to handle other trees on our property in the future. Rates were competitive! Hard to ask for more.

Cedar Difference
I was hugely impressed and very satisfied by Steve and his company for their recent work at my property. He reduced our Holly trees, trimmed a Privet hedge, cut down a large Ash tree and trimmed various bramble shrubs. He worked very efficiently and was totally professional in all aspects. Time keeping was good and cleared up all the mess. Very friendly and very knowledgeable in his professionwith over 15 years experience. I will certainly call on his services in the future and recommend to anyone that needs work done.
