Universal Sailing School offers the full range of RYA Practical Yacht Courses from beginner through to Yachtmaster and other activities designed to broaden and build sailing experience.

Universal Sailing School is a RYA Training Centre. We are based at Mercury Yacht Harbour on the Hamble River in the Solent, and run courses on our modern, fully-equipped Dufour 385 & Beneteau Oceanis 37. If you are already a boat owner, we can also provide you with tuition and the full range of courses on your own boat.

Sailing is a fun and exciting sport, which you are able to enjoy at any level, any age and any budget. It can be a risky sport, but our instructors will provide you with a safe and controlled environment in which to practise and maximise your experience. Plus, once you gain both experience and confidence, you will have the opportunity of following the RYA structured learning process in order to become a certified sailor.

Our aim is to maximise the enjoyment you get from the RYA's structured learning process. whilst ensuring your safety as well as the safety of others around you by learning in a fun, safe and controlled environment on board excellent well maintained privately owned yachts.

History

Established in 2007.

Universal Yachting, Universal Yacht Charter & Universal Sailing School were formed in 2007 by Chris & Melanie Warwick, who have a detailed and technical understanding of boats, first hand experience running owner care programmes and a history of working in the charter and sailing school industry spanning over 20 years.

Meet the Business Owner

Chris W. Business Owner.

Chris started his career in the sailing industry teaching sailing abroad for Sunsail and after a few seasons came back to the UK to take up teaching RYA courses. Soon after Chris took on the role of running Sunsail's UK fleet out of Port Solent and after 8 years Chris left as Operations Manager being responsible for a fleet of over 50 yachts.Chris then joined Ancasta International Boat Sales in 1998 and for the following 9 years provided loyal service as Operations Manager responsible for running Ancasta's Commissioning and Aftersales department dealing with brands such as Beneteau, Lagoon, Rodman Motor Yachts, Bavaria Motor Boats, Marten Yachts & Fairline.

Chris has sailed and raced extensively around the Solent, Channel Ports, Caribbean and Mediterranean waters. Chris is a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster with a wealth of experience running and taking part in a variety of sailing events.
