About

A brief history

The Tri Store opened in April 2003 when Lawrence and Simon decided to go it alone having met working in London and finding themselves spending lunch hours moaning about the service in so many of the bike shops in the city. We also wanted to be part of the triathlon revolution that was beginning to take hold, Simon already being an Ironman disciple from the days of Mark Allen and Dave Scott. We decided we wanted to be the sort of shop where people could ask questions without being made to feel stupid or unworthy of the products they wanted to buy. We wanted the vibe of an “old school" bike shop with the display principles of the West End's finest store. We wanted to be people you felt you could talk to. We like to think we've succeeded in meeting our original outline.
We try to ensure that if a product is in demand, it is in stock and we constantly try to predict the market and buy in advance of trends and hot products. We believe that products (along with a fair amount of training) can make you faster and we're as obsessed as most of our customers about new products. One of our most exciting days since opening the Store was when we received our first pair of stock Lightweight wheels recently.
We aim to provide you with honest advice and customer service and we're aiming at a “real" experience, not the sterile, generic version to be found in the chains and the high street. Our brands are very important to us and we have carefully chosen our range to try to offer you the best choice hand picked from our suppliers. We are one of the UK's biggest Cervélo dealers, carrying a huge amount of stock and all of us love their products and understand the different frames and riding experience.

Best things about the store

The staff – we all get on well and enjoy working together which we hope will be apparent when you shop with us. The morning coffee is probably the best part of the day, usually an industrial-strength Italian or Colombian affair which fires us up for the rest of the day. We want you to be relaxed and enjoy the experience when you shop here.

The location – why not combine a trip with a swim in the sea, a run or a ride in the fantastic surroundings of Eastbourne and the Downs? The reason we're based here is due to Simon being held up on his way to meet Lawrence for one of the location visits. When given the choice of which town to go to (we won't reveal the other town in case the residents riot as a result) as we only had time for one more, Simon said “My heart says Eastbourne". So we followed his heart and have loved it ever since. It's a great place for athletes to live and train and we have the University of Brighton sports campus here as well as the British Triathlon World Class Performance Centre.
