Established in 1873, Mitchells have been holding auctions in Cockermouth for nearly 150 years and we're still going strong today. Our town centre saleroom is without doubt one of the most atmospheric in the country with its octagonal auction ring - converted from a refurbished cattle market - surrounded by tiered wooden bench seating which adds to the spectacle making our sales very exciting to watch and take part in. It's an ideal space for selling antiques, fine art and household goods by auction. The wider saleroom has plenty of space for displaying goods for easy viewing before the sale, making it an enjoyable experience for people to browse through the hundreds of lots for sale each week.
