False advertising

This company falsely advertised a harness called Bergan car harness, claiming that it’s only one of two car harness to have passed crash testing (and are still advertising it at the time of writing this review, despite being made aware of this). On their website they claim "The above really demonstrates that there is no point whatsoever in equipping your dog with a car harness unless, like the Bergan harness, it has been safety crash-tested and passed." This is a blatant lie. It failed catastrophically in the laboratory crash testing that they refer to. In the crash test, this is what was actually reported: "Bergan Car Harness Does not meet performance requirements of CPS-001-014.01 Companion Animal Safety Harness Restraint System Standard. Exhibited severe harness deformation. Allowed dog to launch risking secondary impact. Head Excursion Measurement (FMVSS 213) was exceeded for small and medium sizes. Failure of size large met CPS Catastrophic Failure Definition. Manufacturer attended testing and approved setup of all tests." Dishonest trader

I placed an order for two items specifically so that it took my order above the minimum for free delivery. They took payment for both items and then emailed me to say one item was out of stock. I called them to say I wanted the item they had in stock but asked them to call me back. I also emailed them and stated very clearly that I would not be paying a delivery charge, and that either I would amend my order to take it over £49 or I would pay the 1p to take it up to £49. Instead they took an unauthorised payment of £4.99 and sent the incomplete order. I emailed them immediately and said they did not have authorisation to do so, and I wanted a refund. They refused saying it was my fault! I pointed out that I’d called and emailed saying I wouldn’t be paying the delivery charge, and still they argued. I raised a PayPal dispute (mistakenly for the original amount of the item they’d failed to supply, for which I guaranteed to return any excess payment) and they suddenly agreed to refund me the £4.99, telling me to cancel the dispute. I was not prepared to cancel the dispute given the show so far, obviously. It was impossible to amend the PayPal amount to £4.99 so the dispute is still pending at the time of this review. A week later still no refund, and worse, they denied having agreed to make the refund. It would have been very very simple a) to have been honest in the first place and not take payment for stock they don’t have, b) not send half an order and take an authorised payment for delivery of an unfulfilled delivery and c) admit their error in the first place and refund the £4.99 rather than forcing an extensive email correspondence by lying their way through a week and still not refunding at the end of it. They were rude, dishonest, and to this day I still have no refund. I’ve asked them to provide proof of my authorisation to take the payment but iof course they cannot provide it. There are other reviews online of them taking unauthorised payments. Absolute crooks. If they respond to this review it will no doubt be with more lies (as has been shown where they’ve replied elsewhere). I have a string of email lies from them (yes indeed there are many). Check out their website. It’s a mess and at the time of writing this, they are non-compliant with the Consumer Contract Regulations 2014.

Ordered online, only to cancel after being informed of extra charges. Then took without authorization debit card payment for the extra after cancelling! Rang to get this refunded only to be hung up on! Reported to trading standards. Don't buy from here.

I too ordered a fleece harness and received it in good time to struggle with its workings. On requesting help from the owner it was clear that she was irritated with our inability to fit - even asking me to put my husband on the phone (amused in 2014). On pointing out her bad service she put the phone down. I suggest you will need a very thick skin to deal with this business.

We have always used soft fleece harnesses with our rescue staffie but the fit and quality has been terrible. We then came across Happy Dogs - first of all on their internet site but I'm delighted that they have a shop now within travelling distance to me. We have had 3 harnesses from them, all made to measure to fit our staffie, as we have discovered she is not your usual 'small, medium or large'. Living next to a beach and being keen fell walkers, the harnesses certainly get put through their paces. Sea salt, mud, grass - we wash the harness almost after every walk and they come up like new. And the fit is superb - after a 10 mile hike of jumping over stiles and running through undergorwth it never moves, never rubs. Plus our pooch looks so cute in her purple harness and matching purple lead, also made by Happy Dogs. We also have the Bergan car harness and our dog settles immediately at the start of our journeys. The owners even donated a harness and collar to the rescue where we adopted our staffie from - lovely people and a pleasure to deal with. They even keep the measurments of your dog so ordering a new harness is so quick. Fantastic products, excellent customer service and a delight to shop with Happy Dogs

Not so Happy.....

I ordered a fleece harness and the service was second to none but then it fell apart like my harness did in 4 weeks! After sales service ranges from slow and inattentive to downright rude. The owner is always right not the customer! I now have no harness from them as I returned it for repair, but it is all my fault and I can only have it back if I pay the return postage. Oh yes my dog is soooo happy I had to buy a decent one from dog games. We are both happy now.
