Do I have the right amount of sockets?

If there are not enough socket outlets it will mean that you will need to use adapters or extension leads. This will not only place an unacceptable electrical load on each socket outlet, but it could also prove to be a trip hazard with extension leads trailing throughout the kitchen. Also, are there enough socket outlets in your other rooms for the equipment that you will be using there?

To rectify this situation you should get your Electricks electrician to carry out an inspection on your property.

Do you have an old fuse board?

Although an old fuse board is not in itself a problem, its presence is often a good indication that there are other problems with the electrical installation. For instance, the switchgear may not be manufactured to a sufficient standard to allow for some of the electrical characteristics in your home.

The only real way to establish if your consumer unit, or any other part of your electrical installation, is safe is to have a periodic electrical inspection carried out by an engineer.
