St. Thomas More High School is a voluntary aided Catholic comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11 to 16, situated close to the centre of Crewe, in Cheshire. It is smaller than average; at present there are 638* pupils on roll with slightly more boys than girls . Most pupils are drawn from four parishes within the Shrewsbury Diocese, and the school serves a wide, diverse area that includes areas both of social deprivation and relative affluence.
Attainment on entry is above average. The proportion of pupils with special educational needs is broadly average, including 14* pupils with statements of need, mostly for specific or moderate learning problems. The vast majority of pupils are indigenous white with the remainder from mixed race or black origins. The proportion of pupils entitled to free school meals is broadly average.
We are Specialist School for Maths, ICT and Modern Languages, allowing us to develop strong links with our business community and enhancing the curriculum provision for our pupils. The school has previously enjoyed Beacon School status, acknowledging its very good practice and a Schools Achievement Award in recognition of continuing positive progress.
