All that proves is that the management knew they were wrong to refuse entry in the first place.Remove the "strict non-uniform policy" as it's descrimination, then remove the management who made the rule. Then it might be a nice bar to visit.

No member of H.M. Forces are permitted, whatever the occasion, to wear uniform in public licensed premises. The rules are Tri-Service and werere-issued last year when the Ministry of Defence clarified the wearing of uniform in public in the UK. Army example:'c. Occasions on which uniform is not to be worn, unless specifically approved by the Chain of Command:(1) When visiting public houses.'The RAF example clarifies the situation even further. '0113.Occasion on which uniform is not to be worn. b. Visits to licensed premises (including when not consuming alcohol), except when specifically approved by the Chain of Command.'The 'no pub' in uniform rule was picked up by the media last year and re-published in several newspapers last year.

Not to be visited by anyone who supports our forces as the manager proudly banned army personnel from entering the building who had just been to a funeral of one of our serivcemen who had been blown up in Afghanistan.Boycott this place

both Phatz bar and Dan Hume's father Ardian are appalled at the way this has been reported. The soldiers in question were initially refused entry primarily on a dress code policy. After a short time this policy was lifted and at the first opportunity the 2 gentlemen were invited into the bar. They stayed for approx 2 hours dancing and drinking and left the bar in good spirits. Adrian Hume is so commited to this sequence of events,he gave the bar his mobile phone number stating we could give it to anyone that wanted conformation of these facts. We ofcourse havnt released the number. A more detailed account will be posted on the Maidenhead Advertisers web site tomorrow afternoon.

Never been to this dump. But if they can refuse entry to Servicemen on account of them being in uniform, 'I dont want to visit.Perhaps the manger will think again.Had to give a rating of one star this should of course be a minus 250.

As a licence holder, I can tell you now for a fact you are not allowed to serve alcohol to anyone wearing a public uniform (police, medics etc), if you do you risk loosing your liscence or receiving a fine! Don't blame the bar for upholding the rules!

Been here on both a Wednesday and Friday night and this bar is like two different venues. On Wednesday it is your typical student night out with barely a dozen people. Friday on the other hand is so packed you barely move although the clientele remains the same. Drink prices are very good – about £2.50 for a pint although be prepared to queue for five to ten minutes before being served. There is a small bar upstairs although they only sell bottles. Music on a Friday is good with modern day stuff downstairs and indie/drum and bass upstairs. There is also an open top roof which is good if you want to smoke.
