Manchester High School for Girls provides a lively, stimulating environment, which encourages girls to discover the excitement and satisfaction of high academic achievement.
Our carefully structured induction programme, which includes a residential trip, helps girls to settle seamlessly into Year 7.

In the first three years of the Senior School, our aim is to ensure that each individual receives a firm grounding in a broad and balanced range of subjects, including specialised science teaching in each of the three separate disciplines. In Year 7, Latin and French are taught and from Year 8, German and Spanish are offered. During Year 9, girls are guided to select their GCSE options from an extensive choice, although English, English Literature, Mathematics, a Modern Foreign Language, a short course in Religious Studies and Science plus Additional Science or Biology, Chemistry and Physics remain compulsory to ensure a broad educational experience and to keep options open for Sixth Form study.
The Curriculum is regularly reviewed to ensure that it meets the needs of young women who will be entering the 21st century global workplace. It offers challenging academic work, creative activities and a variety of sports. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is fully integrated into the curriculum and, throughout the School, teaching and learning are supported by excellent resources.

Our outstanding teachers have a passion for their subjects and are committed to nurturing talents and supporting individuals, often giving up many extra hours to enable the girls to fulfil their ambitions.
Our girls develop an independent approach to their learning within a carefully structured framework. Strong emphasis is placed on developing problem solving and higher order thinking skills, as well as the ability to learn autonomously, in order to prepare them for future challenges.
