About Us

Little Petals provides quality childcare for children aged 0 to 8 years, in the nursery and also the out of school club. We are Ofsted registered and are an inclusive setting and welcome all children and their families. We provide a challenging and nurturing environment which caters for children's individual needs.

Childcare

At Little Petals we fully understand the anxieties that parents face trying to juggle work at the same time as spending time with your children, as well as the concerns you may feel at leaving your little one for the first time. We have a gradual admission process where children initially spend time in their playroom with their parents, then slowly build up time at the nursery without mum and dad, getting to know their Key Worker and building up a relationship of trust.

Working with Parents and Carers

You are the most important influence in your child's life and in the Early Years, their main teacher. At Little Petals we understand the importance of working with parents and carers to support the children in our nursery. We listen to what you say and ask for information about what your child gets up to at home, what they like to play with and how we can support their learning together.

Our Staff

We take pride in our amazing team of practitioners, many of which have been with us for years. All have at least a Level 2 qualification in Childcare, many are currently studying their Level 3 or their degrees and the manager has Early Years Professional Status.

Extra Curricular Activities

We try to offer something a bit extra at Little Petals by inviting other professionals into the setting from time to time. Our Sunflowers and Pre-School children have the opportunity to join in a Stretch N Grow class every Thursday which encourages physical activity and thinking about keeping themselves healthy and safe ( see www.stretch-n-grow.co.uk for more info). We have also had a project called Living Eggs where the children get to see baby chicks hatch from eggs in the nursery, and the Really Wild Roadshow brought some large creepy crawlies and reptiles into the nursery for them to touch! We also like to invite ‘People Who Help Us' into the nursery, such as fire officers who come with their fire engine for the children to explore!

The Nursery

Our nursery is based around 4 separate rooms which means children are able to develop at their own pace and can move onto a more challenging environment when the time is right. Please note we use age as a guide only and work with parent to ensure that children move into the next room when they are ready.

The Great Outdoors

Where possible our staff take children to the park for ‘nature walks' to collect leaves etc, we also use the local park for our Sports Day in summer for the older children. Young babies are often taken out in the buggies with a member of staff qualified in First Aid so they can have fresh air every day.However Little Petals has its own outdoor play area and we try to take each age group out twice a day, weather permitting. Our garden has a covered area to protect against the elements and as well as physical activities the children can access books, craft equipment and role play. Each spring we plant flowers and seeds with the older children as part of the EYFS curriculum.

We are situated in a great location in Stretford close to 4 primary schools. We are on the commuter route from areas such as Sale and Altrincham to Manchester city centre, as well being en route to Trafford Park and the Trafford Centre.
