About

The Foundling Museum tells the story of the children cared for in the Foundling Hospital. It houses the foundling art collection, donated by Hogarth, Gainsborough and Reynolds among others, as well as eighteenth-century interiors recovered from the original building before it was destroyed in the 1920s.

Where artists and children have inspired each other since 1740

The Foundling Museum explores the history of the Foundling Hospital, the UK's first children's charity and first public art gallery. Through a dynamic programme of exhibitions and events the Museum celebrates the ways in which artists of all disciplines have helped improve children's lives for over 275 years.
