As a long established City business we offer traditional services such as the provision of Seal Signet Rings bespoke cufflinks and specially designed badges and other regalia.
Searle and Co has been established in the heart of the City of London since 1893 serving private clients, businesses and City institutions. The focus is on quality and personal service.
The company is a family business, now in it's fourth generation.
Searle and Co has a wide range of Victorian and Edwardian jewellery and Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian silverware.
We have been privileged to supply fine jewellery and silverware to commemorate all of life's special occasions, from an eternity ring to celebrate a birth, through Christening and Confirmation gifts to a signet ring for an eighteenth birthday followed by engagement and wedding rings. Add in birthdays, anniversaries, graduation and retirements, the list is endless.
Skilled craftsmen enable us to offer a full repair and restoration service. Rings can be resized and rebuilt, gold can be repaired, we can restring pearls, match missing gems, and copy lost earrings. Silverware and plate can be restored, including the manufacture of traditional blue (and other coloured) glass liners. Old watches are one of our specialities and we can also undertake work to small clocks. As Fellows of the Institute of Registered Valuers (http://www.jewelleryvaluers.org) we conduct appraisal and valuation work using the Guild of Valuers and Jewellers secure database; appraisals include a detailed description, expert research where necessary and photography.
From design to completion we can assist with the production of a unique piece of jewellery or the remodelling of a dated or damaged heirloom either to your own design or one produced by us.
Our signet rings are stamped from a solid sheet of newly refined gold and with the subject (crest, coat of arms etc.) carved out by hand. Our seal engraver is the third generation of a family which has worked with Searle throughout. We do not use cast rings or any laser engraving process
From the alteration of a ring size to the complete restoration of a family tiara Searle's experienced and competent craftsmen will meet the challenge. Assessment of the work required and an estimate of the cost are offered free of charge, and all items entrusted to us are photographed and insured whilst in our care. We service clocks and watches, and our silversmiths can clean and restore fine silverware.
The following link gives some information about the valuation for insurance and probate service we offer. http://www.searleandco.ltd.uk/resources/jewellery-silver-valuations/
To enable us to offer a fast and efficient service we invite you to make an appointment to have your valuation completed on one of our valuation days when our two resident Fellows of the Institute of Registered Valuers are joined by another Fellow, who is also an expert on high grade watches. We ask that you bring the items to be valued along with any receipts, certificates and previous valuations; where watches are included it is essential that we see ‘box and papers'. When you visit we will discuss the purpose of the valuation and give a receipt for all items left. We may also offer informal advice on items that do not justify a full valuation. Jewellery is cleaned, gems are tested, watches are examined for authenticity, if applicable diamonds are checked against their certificates and values are applied as discussed when the items are left. Our documentation includes detailed descriptions accompanied by colour images, an ‘Insurer sheet' for you to send to your insurers, and advice to be followed in the event of a loss. All this is also available to you via a secure database managed by the Guild of Valuers and Jewellers. Our charges are £200 for the first item, and £70 apiece for further items on the same schedule.

I am a regular customer of Searle's, as my family have been for two generations. The jewellery are of a wonderful quality and I have had the pleasure of having hand made bespoke pieces from them also, which I am so pleased with. Very friendly and down to earth service by people who know what they are talking about, unlike those cheap high street multiples.
