Pig & Whistle is a pub that serves a variety of beers, wines and spirits.London Underground: Latimer Road
Superb little venue and a new favourite with the pre-Notting Hill Arts Club crowd. There are not many places in London where you can enjoy a pizza of this quality and engage in a little celebrity-spotting whilst watching greyhound racing on Irish television. There was a nasty moment later on when H from Steps squared up to Calum Best but luckily the situation was soon brought under control. The landscaped garden at the back is a delight enriched by well-chosen mellow trance. Gerri Halliwell is doing an acoustic set from her next album here on the 17th of August – not to be missed.

After a long day at work and bored by the Champagne bars that we regularly frequent (there's a limit to how much Crystal you can drink), my chums and I sought out this pub based on the review below. Not expecting much from it's low key exterior we persevered and entered only to find an absolute gem! The owners clearly have spent considerable time recruiting up and coming artists as the mural by the bar gives the pub a classy yet edgy feel. The service is excellent as is the food. What might seem like spelling errors to the untrained eye (D'avola pizza instead of Diavolo) actually reveal the Albanian chef's ability to modernise old pizza favourites.By being head and shoulders above pubs in the area it is no surprise that we saw members of the Blazin Squad sharing drinks with Kerry Katona from Atomic Kitten (incidentally she ordered a 16†pizza for herself) and what looked like music executives (a future collaboration in the pipeline perhaps?).

The eclectic crowd of regulars who frequent this popular Notting Dale bar can now enjoy the finest Italian food with their drinks. The stone-ground pizza bases are freshly made wafer-thin with delicious and well-presented toppings. In these balmy evenings the landscaped garden at the rear feels like a slice of Tuscany with the aromas of garlic and rosemary emanating from the kitchen. Our party ordered two pizzas between three of us – a Diavola and a Chorizo – both perfect. Service is exemplary and bar snacks are also available. There's a sprinkling of celebrities (one of Liberty X and Michael Barrymore's brother were in on the same night that we were) along with a host of footballers. All ingredients are sourced locally (Kensal Rise Sainsburys).
