Fighting Fit Fencing is a dedicated sports provider specialising in the Olympic sport of fencing. Our passion is to provide all members of society, regardless of age, ability or level the opportunity to participate in this fantastic sport. Anyone over the age of five can fence at our club, regardless of gender or ability - many people take up fencing in their fifties and beyond. Opponents can compete on equal terms, as strength is not a requirement. Fencing is really a sport where skill, technique and guile will usually win. Fencing is often referred to as "chess with a sword"! The basic skills can be acquired during our beginners' course. Here you will learn enough about fencing to get you started in the sport. This course is also an excellent refresher for people who have previous experience of fencing. All equipment and kit (including electric fencing) will be provided free of charge for all sessions, so a tracksuit, trainers, t-shirt and enthusiasm is all that you will need to bring. Our beginners will be given a typical warm up, to get the blood flowing and muscles moving. The group will then be lead through all the necessary basics to be able to have a bout or two at the end of the first session. Thereafter, the remaining weeks will hone your new found skills and enhance your movement and technical skills at a pace suited to each fencer. Groups maybe spilt for this purpose if required.
