Excellent good old fashioned greasy spoon

Damn the Apprentice! I was hoping that they would stop using The Bridge for the venue where the losers rake over the ashes of failed tasks. Last time I popped in I couldn't get a seat it was so popular - and unusually popular with persons incongruous to their surroundings.I first happened upon this little anachronistic gem when I was looking for a shop to buy a sandwich and a can before a meeting in nearby Park Royal. The last thing I expected in a leafy street with a park running down the side was a greasy spoon full of cabbies, brickies and the like. I felt uneasy going in my suit but soon felt at ease as the jovial owners made me welcome and served me an olympic size bacon sarnie and a mug of tea that you could stand a spoon in it was that strong. Bliss...It ticks virtually no boxes in the gastronomic checklist - the food is not haute cuisine, not healthy, not well presented, not complex or creative and served in plain surroundings... and all the better for it.This place knows its clientele, produces good old fashioned comfort food and is a beacon of light in an increasingly pompous and disengenuous food industry and long may it continue to be true to its roots.
