Gateshead

Gateshead is a town on the South bank of the River Tyne, just over the river from Newcastle Upon Tyne. In recent years the traditional heavy industry has been replaced by high tech companies and this has reflected on the town with a range of leisure and cultural attractions appearing in the Borough Of Gateshead. From the striking Angel Of The North, the innovative Sage and the Millenium Bridge to the Baltic, Gateshead is a truly transformed town. Other main attractions include Metrocentre, one of Europe's largest shopping and leisure centres and Gateshead International Stadium which is host to a range of national and international sporting events.
