Birkenhead is a town on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside which is in the North West of England. Renowned as a shipbuilding town and port, Birkenhead retains some of its sea going heritage by being the location of the Birkenhead Ferry which sails to Dublin and Belfast and the Mersey Ferry that takes passengers to Liverpool . Popular with commuters to Liverpool, Birkenhead has a range of retail outlets at close hand at Pyramids Shopping Centre and also boasts a theatre and art gallery.
