The Mid Wales Paragliding Centre was established to address the specific training needs of people who are interested in the sport of Paragliding and Paramotoring. We are a small business run by qualified professionals, based on the outskirts of Aberystwyth, a principal sea side holiday resort and administrative centre for the west coast of Wales. We operate both standard and tailor made courses offering professional paragliding and Paramotoring training to individuals, groups and corporate groups. We have been lucky to acquire the experience of one of the UK`s frontrunners in the sport Jocky Sanderson as well as Steve Griffiths and Chris White both excellent instructors who are all committed to the evolution of the sport.
Paragliding courses range from 1 & 2 day taster sessions where you will start to learn the basics about the paraglider at the end of the taster session you will have flown the glider solo. Next is the Elementry pilot course, This is the first part to obtaining your paragliding licence. Consisting of 4 days of training you will get used to taking off, landing and controlling the paraglider in flight as well as landing in a designated area. You will also have theory lectures and an exam to pass. Finally is the 5 day Club pilot course. This will involve more flights where you have to stay in the air for a duration of 10 mins or more on more than one occasion. You will have to master the key skills that you will need to make your flying hobby as safe as possible when you leave the instruction of our school. Again there is a club pilot exam at the end of the course, pass it and the skies your playground.
1 & 2 day taster sessions where you will learn about the paraglider and paramotor you will spend the most of the time learning new skills you will need to be able to fly a paraglider as well as some of the skills needed to handle the running paramotor safely. If you want to go for your full BMAA(British Microlight Aircraft Association) foot launched pilots licence then this would be a 10 day course. You will spend 5 days learning to fly the paraglider and handling the paramotor in simulated flight before taking to the skies solo on day 6. You will then have 4 days flying various tasks and gaining knowledge and experience so you will be competent in flying when you leave our school. You will get various lectures and have an exam to pass at the end
