There should only be two types of restaurants, the Prince of India and others! Its truly a Prince and Im not exaggerating either. It was out of curiosity I decide to see what the Prince of India was ‘all about’ .The restaurant has a car park which is useful for patrons –like me- who drive ,while the interior has a feel to it which is hard to place but is rather disarming and sets you at ease when you settle down at your table . Still on the interior its neither too big nor too small which simply means that it does not have that overcrowded feeling that is typical of ‘factory restaurants’ – where people are squeezed like sardines and if you don’t eat quickly ,, you may lose your sanity! Ultimately, this make for a cosy dining experience . The waiters here are very polite , everything is either a ‘yes please or a thank you’ which you get used to eventually and I mean that in a positive way. The menu is so varied there’s plenty to choose from - vegetarian, sweet , hot very hot etc you may need help to order and the ever knowledgeable waiters guide your decision as opposed to using the opportunity to guide you to pricey items – your choice is still yours. Their wine list isn’t bad either, its just as varied as their menu. Eventually, I ordered a vegetable chat and special pakura .Each starter was a delight to eat , I knew the main dish would not disappoint and it didn’t either! I ordered their Tandoori chicken , special fried rice, balti bhuna and kima nan for my main dish and I could not have made a better choice. The presentation was a bit magical as the tandoori makes this sizzling sound with an equally impressive trail of smoke accompanying it as the waiter brings it. Anyway, the tandoori was simply delicious properly cooked with rich spices as well. Each bite was a pleasure , I never wanted it to end .They must cook with authentic Indian spices , whatever it is they cook with,it produces a wonder

I read a review online about The Prince of India ticking many boxes for what an Indian restaurant should be and I couldn’t agree more! The waiters are polite and aim to please! Upon entering, you can’t help but notice the interior has this antique feel that is simply charming .The lighting inside isn’t too bright and they also have delightful Indian music playing in the background – just lovely ! They also have an impressive wine list , you can choose from either white or red – Italian , French , Chilean -just so many names to choose from. The menu is assorted, there are vegetarian dishes, and for people who like hot, mild or very hot dishes there’s something for them as well – you simply cannot make a bad choice from the menu at the Prince of India! My main meal was a chicken halema – a sweet dish, as I like sweet things - which arrived rather quickly , hot with a wonderful aroma wafting up from it. I also ordered a kima rice and kima nan to go with what was an excellent curry. The nan had a wonderful aroma that reminded me of my mums baking .Everything was cooked and served to perfection. Did I mention , the servings at the Prince were quite generous quite unlike some restaurants that try to rip you off with pint sized portions .I had a really good meal at the Prince of India ; excellent service, great food all at a reasonable price. If you want a truly authentic Indian cuisine , I would definitely recommend the Prince of India to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience in Portree, it has a warm ambience, the food is excellent . The service is also courteous and fast. I cant recommend the restaurant enough

The curry here is simply divine but thats not the only good thing about the Prince ! Im not really into wine but if I were , the Prince of India is wine heaven - plenty to choose from.Their nans are simply exquisite, you should try it. By the way , they also have a car park which makes a visit there hassle free

I saw the negative reviews about the prince of India and went to see for myself - to find out just how bad this restaurant could possible be!It is nowhere as bad as some make it to be.The staff are really polite and at your service. The food is wonderful;, I ordered a chicken tikka starter which was served with a delicious mint sauce. My main meal was their specialty - Balti chicken tikka bhuna which did not take time to come.It had very rich spices, the chicken was tender and well cooked.I ate while being serenaded by beautiful Indian music playing in the background. One word phenomenal!! it was better than I expected. I am HOOKED and so will anyone who goes there. ruly wonderful.Ill be more cautious of restaurant reviews and go see for myself

I came across the take away from the Prince Of India restaurant at a friends home and decided to give it a try. There are some business you go to and you are treated as if they can do without your patronage - the Prince of India is different. A waiter opens the door when you arrive and when you leave , they walk you to the door carrying your order for you - would be nice if they could also drive me home - they probably would! They are very polite over there! Back home I was impressed with my take away , generous portions. I ordered a kima fried rice and a chicken pathia. Immediatey I opened the pack , I caught a strong aroma filled my nostrils , Iknew I was in for a treat- the chicken was tender and spicy ! Next time I go, Ill eat in.If they treat take outs so well , then what about eat in customers

] I and 3 friends were in Portree for some sight seeing and we went to the Prince for dinner , the restaurant has this cosy feel that is just relaxing ,there was also an amazing variety of items on the menu and drinks to match. The waiters were knowledgeable and guided our menu choice. We ordered pilau rice , peshwari nans and their balti chiken tikka kashmiri . It was simply delicious, the chicken was tender and mouthwatering! The nan bread had that oven fresh smell that reminds you of mums baking .The servings were quite generous .Overall, the food was hot , tasty and reasonably priced .It was so good , we all ordered a take away .Whenever were in Skye , well eat at the Prince of India and order a take away as well

There are no words to accurately describe the quality of service at the Prince of India , so I will make do with 'magnificent'. There are some restaurants you go to you cant help thinking youre an in a factory and you are part of the production line. The Prince is cosy & comfortable as I entered , a waiter opened the door and welcomed me in from there another waiter led me to my table - and that was just the begining!! After Id settled down , I was presented with a menu that was so varied , I had difficulty choosing. Eventually , I ordered prawn cocktails for a starter and Chicken tikka shaslik for the main meal with egg fried rice and cheese nan. Each item was wonderful in its own right. The rice was properly cooked , with ust the right amount of seasoning, the chicken was juicy and really mouthwatering. My meal there was value for money , Im telling all my friends about the Prince!
