The Urquhart Caledonian hotel is located in Portree the main village on the Island of Skye. Portree is on the eastern coast of the Island and over looks the sound of Raasay. Situated in a lovely bay surrounded by hills, this is the perfect place to base your self for touring around the sites of Skye. The Urquhart Caledonian Hotel can be found on the main street and is just a few steps form the main square, all the shops, the post office, banks, bars, library, bus station, taxi rank, swimming pool and tourist information and so on are right on our door step. The standard of accommodation you'll find at the Urquhart Caledonian Hotel is very high for a small family run hotel. The rooms are modern and tastefully furnished with remote control TV, hairdryers, radio alarm clocks, tea/coffee trays and telephones. En suit showers and WC are the last touch to complete your comfortable stay. Ironing and laundry facilities are available on request; there is also a hot room to dry out damp boots or clothing for the hill walkers or fishing folk among you. Also there is private parking at the back of the hotel. All in all the Urquhart family have provided you with everything needed for a comfortable stay away from home.
Not forgetting of course a hearty full Scottish breakfast, which includes the world famous "Haggis" and "Black pudding". But for those of you who prefer a lighter start to the day a selection of fresh fruit juices, cereals and fruit segments are available along with tea, coffee and toast. The Caley Bar (as it's known locally) is a regular stop for Islanders and returning visitors alike. This popular bar has a tremendous atmosphere whether it's busy or just a small handful of customers; a good time is not too hard to find. If you've had a long day travelling, sighting or walking in our beautiful hills and mountains, and are looking to relax and unwind, then look no further. You can sit by our open fire and savour the tastes of our large selection of Malts and Blends. Or why not pass the inevitable rainy afternoon with a game of pool, darts, cards or choose form our small selection of board games. When meal times come around, our wonderful chef has prepared an excellent and reasonable no frills, pub grub menu which has a large selection of dishes to choose form, which where possible prepared from local fresh produce. This bar is also very child friendly and welcomes family till the late evening. For something a bit livelier then the weekends are when the Caley bar come to life. We have a number of bands that perform Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year.
