At McGraths Opticians we pride ourselves on our individual and personal service we provide to you. You are most welcome to browse our web site. McGraths Opticians were first formed in the 1930's. Since then we have flourished in the west end of Edinburgh forming a reputation encouraging our clients to return regularly for their eye care, bringing with them family and friends through recommendations. The present owners of McGraths are Cathy and Brian Waddell who have built up their own reputation with the help of a close knit team of staff; Ross Grant - Manager, Freida Watson - Contact Lens/Dispensing Optician, Kari Ann Reynolds - Dispensing Assistant and Kirsty Renwick - Dispensing Assistant. All our staff work closely together to bring you the best service possible...We are pleased to announce that McGraths, in conjunction with lens manufacturers Essilor, are introducing their brand new range of lenses, the Varilux Ipseo. This state of the art lens is suitable for all existing varifocal or bifocal wearers, and includes new technology to provide maximum comfort and vision in all directions of sight. It is a highly personalised lens made with measurements taken to assess eye and head movements.

Sunglasses

At McGraths we stock a varied up to the minute selection of designer sunglasses, many of the 2006 range will arrive in January and February. Top of the list to see is the new MP3 and Bluetooth enabled sunspectacles. Now you can look cool and listen to your favourite music tracks or make phone calls with your bluetooth enabled mobile phone. There are various models to choose from; Oakley Thump 1.5 and 2. They boast storage for your music files up to 1GB and even detachable fliplenses for overall comfort if you are moving from bright to dark surroundings.The Razr Wire bluetooth sunspecs are a perfect complement to your mobile phone. We have in our stock many other styles from Chanel, Bvlgari, Prada, CK Gucci and Police.

Video Dispensing.

Video Dispensing McGraths are pleased to offer the latest in Video Imaging by incorporating the "Glass Studio Video Dispensing System". This includes a high resolution video camera enabling you to be photographed wearing various frames. (See left). It is ideal if you have a strong prescriptions as you can try on frames then look at yourself with your original glasses back on. Tints, coatings and even different lens materials can be selected to show what effect each will have on the appearance of your completed spectacles ( right), and the weight of different materials can be calculated and shown (below) Your actual prescription can be entered, and it's effect is shown on screen within the frames you have selected. You can in effect "try on" your glasses before they are even made.
