Giltsharp Technology (UK) Ltd was established at the end of 1989 to acquire the Giltsharp Master Franchise Rights for the UK and Ireland from Giltsharp World Rights Ltd (GWRL), a company incorporated in the Channel Islands.Over the following 5 years a network of 40 franchisees was established and Giltsharp became the No.1 provider of professional sharpening and related services to the Catering and Hairdressing industries in the UK and Ireland. A period of consolidation followed during which time a number of issues were addressed in relation to the improvement of equipment, services and products and, in 1996, the first web site was established. Internet sales have since enjoyed a year-on-year increase and now account for 60% of the Giltsharp Business.
