Antiques, Restoration and Upholstery. . . . Looking after the past for the future....

Nestling in Wharfedale, West Yorkshire is the famous and picturesque spa town of Ilkley. Here you will find Charles Wild Antiques, well respected upholstery and antique restoration business. This extraodinary little shop close to the edge of Ilkley Moor looks as if it has been forgotten about for many a year and brings back memories of a bygone era. In the premises every nook and cranny is packed with antique -period furniture all in different stages of repair and finish. Just sitting there waiting to be restored. There's never a shortage of antique furniture for sale, including Victorian nursing chairs, chaise longue and knoll settees.

Some of the furniture that arrives to be restored looks just like it's come from a mistal and it probably has! To look at it you might think it was past restoring....

Charles Wild has been running his own business in the town for many years, with a love of antiques. The majority of this work comes through recommendation and repeat business. He does not just sell furniture but will restore your own furniture too. Over the years Charles Wild has restored everything from Chippendale chairs for stately homes to the interiors of classic sports cars. The business has an excellent reputation, and upholstery and restoration work is undertaken for customers from all over the UK and further afield. Recent work has included that for customers exhibiting in Frankfurt Germany and the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham UK.

Why not come and choose an anitque sofa from Charles Wild's stock or have your own antique restored by this craftsman ? Choose the fabric to match your decor, and see it fully restored. New stock arrives weekly, so there is always plenty to choose from in shapes, size and styles to suit all tastes. No restoration job is too big or too small from making new legs for furniture to replacing broken casters. Pride and great care is taken to match replacedment parts with the originals. Traditional materials and methods are used; all hand crafted by this craftsman. Horse hair is still used, and is recycled so you could say that this job is doing it's bit to be environmentally friendly. Charles Wild has the experience and expertise to work in all kinds of materials and fabrics including leather.
