I have been providing a number of complementary/natural therapies on a full time basis in Harborne for over 15 years. I work from Renaissance Natural Therapy Centre that I used to run until 2012 when I decided to concentrate purely on my clients and study. I also work from Wellbeing at the Wishing Well in Bromsgrove.
I am very lucky as many people dream of changing their career and I am living the dream! It is so wonderful to be able to be helping people resolve health issues instead of working in insurance.
As a larger lady who has, in her life, been really poorly and who is still steadily improving with an allegedly incurable illness, I know that you will feel comfortable and relaxed working with me – even if you do have to take your clothes off!
I have successfully shed more than five stones in weight (with more to go) and my health is the best it's been in ages – thanks to the complementary therapies and therapists that I love. If you have a health issue or worry about being told off or judged for your lifestyle - or even fret about being too heavy for a couch or too thin to be healthy, I promise you have finally found the therapy centre where you can relax and truly be you.
I am convinced of the many benefits of complementary therapies: I can both vouch for this from a personal perspective and am blessed in having many happy, healthier clients who are also living the benefits in their lives today
Maternity Reflexology is the expertise of the Reflexology Practitioner in using a natural therapy (reflexology) to support the natural event of pregnancy and birthing.
I have completed the post graduate Maternity Reflexology course with Susanne Enzer, (a retired midwife and reflexologist) and I am now certified by her as competent to offer support for: Preconceptual Care; Antenatal care; Birthing Preparation; Postnatal care and Newborn baby care.
I provide support for couples who are trying to conceive, either naturally or with assisted conception techniques. If you have been trying to conceive for some time, or even if you are just thinking about trying for a baby, then please ring me for a chat, to see how I can help.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage training is an evidence based, ground breaking reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. It appears to benefit cancer patients who experience lymphoedema (swelling of the arm) following medical intervention. After breast cancer, a person may experience psychological or emotional difficulties due to altered body image, and a swollen limb can exacerbate this. Although there is no cure, RLD may help manage the symptoms.
Hot Stone Massage is a truly relaxing treatment using hot stones of varying sizes on parts of the body – from the shoulders to between the toes - giving a deep, therapeutic Swedish massage and creating a sensation of warmth and comfort.
Pregnancy Massage is a lovely, safe and effective treatment to receive during your second and third trimester. It has lots of benefits such as reducing the aches and pains associated with pregnancy, reducing swelling in ankles, feet and hands and relaxing and is de-stressing for you and your baby. By combining massage with the therapeutic qualities of essential oils (that are safe to use in pregnancy,) the healing of the body, mind and spirit is promoted. The treatment is taken in a safe side lying position and you are given plenty of pillows and cushions to make you and your bump as comfortable as possible.
I am based at Renaissance Natural Therapy centre, situated just off Harborne High Street. If you turn into Station Rd it is located on the corner of Station Rd and Clarence Rd in a small Courtyard called Clarence Mews (there's a flag on the corner.) Clare

Bowen is a gentle, non-intrusive therapy that stimulates the body to rebalance itself and promotes healing, pain relief and the recovery of vital energy. The best results are usually obtained by having two or three treatments, five to ten days apart.
My sessions of Bowen with Hilary were so relaxed and comforting that I could have stayed there all day. They first alleviated and then healed a long-standing problem caused by falling from a horse. The only problem with being better is that I now have to find excuses to go back for more.
"I've had a recurring lower back problem - probably due to the fact that I'm now too old to play squash against fit 17 year old lads! In September I hurt my back and it wasn't right for around 6 weeks. Although it was no longer painful(other than when I tried to run) there was a constant ache and I was unable to jog or do aerobics. It was certainly having an impact on my life and meant giving up squash, aerobics, gym etc for this time. I'd had sports massage, rubbed 'Deep Heat' on it, put ice on it, was given exercises to do by my Pilates teacher - but nothing would take away this dull ache. In desperation I looked at other possible treatments which may help. I came to see Hilary for a Bowen to see if that would have any affect on it. As I lay on the couch on my back Hilary noticed that one foot fell to the side more than the other and that in actual fact my hips were out of alignment. I had no idea and evidently many people suffer from this without being aware. She tweaked a muscle in my leg to realign it all and as soon as she did this the ache went away - and stayed away! I couldn't believe how effective such a little movement could be. I would really recommend that if you do have a problem with your lower back that you get your hip alignment checked. It really made all the difference to me!"
